CODE OF CONDUCT & ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

Mission: Training For Life Success While Building Community.

1. PURPOSE & SCOPE

Elite Martial Arts of Brooklyn (ELITE) is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, positive, and supportive environment where every member can learn, grow, and succeed.

This Code of Conduct applies to all students (ELITE Warriors), parents, guardians, family members, guests, spectators, and visitors while participating in ELITE programs, attending ELITE events, using ELITE facilities, or engaging in conduct connected to the ELITE community.

2. OUR CORE VALUES — THE 4 P'S

All members of the ELITE community are expected to practice our four core values:

  • Be Positive: Use encouraging words, maintain a constructive attitude, and support others.

  • Be Present: Give your attention to the moment, remain engaged, and minimize distractions.

  • Be Patient: Respect the learning process, individual differences, and the progress of others.

  • Be Persistent: Demonstrate consistency, discipline, and a willingness to improve.

3. RESPECT & PERSONAL CONDUCT

All members, parents, and guests must treat others with dignity and respect.

The following behaviors are prohibited:

  • Bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or threats.

  • Physical aggression or intentional harm.

  • Profanity, insults, belittling, or abusive language directed toward others.

  • Inappropriate physical contact or violations of personal boundaries.

  • Disruptive, hostile, or confrontational behavior.

  • Theft, vandalism, or intentional damage to property.

  • Conduct that compromises the safety, well-being, or learning environment of others.

Disagreements must be handled respectfully and through appropriate communication channels.

4. DOJO ETIQUETTE

ELITE Warriors are expected to:

  • Bow and demonstrate respect when entering or leaving the dojo and training areas.

  • Follow established dojo traditions, including verbal acknowledgments of Respect, Safety, and Focus.

  • Address instructors respectfully, using appropriate titles such as Sensei, Sir, or Ma'am.

  • Follow instructor directions promptly.

  • Obtain instructor permission before leaving the training area or using training equipment.

  • Refrain from horseplay, unauthorized sparring, or unsafe physical contact.

  • Keep phones and other distractions away during training.

  • Refrain from chewing gum or bringing food and beverages onto training mats unless authorized.

  • Respect the property, equipment, and personal belongings of others.

5. SUCCESS LANGUAGE & BODY LANGUAGE

ELITE Warriors are expected to demonstrate a positive attitude through both words and actions.

Members should use respectful, encouraging, and solution-oriented communication.

Eye-rolling, mocking, hostile gestures, disrespectful responses, and deliberately disruptive body language are not acceptable.

Corrections and feedback are part of the learning process and should be received respectfully.

6. UNIFORMS, HYGIENE & EQUIPMENT

All ELITE Warriors are expected to maintain appropriate personal hygiene and care for their training equipment.

Our standard is:

LOOK GOOD. SMELL GOOD. FEEL GOOD.

Members must:

  • Wear the required uniform and protective equipment.

  • Keep uniforms clean and in good condition.

  • Maintain appropriate personal hygiene.

  • Keep fingernails and toenails safely trimmed.

  • Remove jewelry or accessories that may create safety risks.

  • Clean, dry, and maintain gloves, shin guards, and other protective equipment.

  • Avoid leaving damp or sweaty equipment stored in closed bags.

  • Respect shared training spaces and equipment.

ELITE may restrict participation when hygiene, attire, or equipment presents a reasonable health or safety concern.

7. PARENT & GUARDIAN EXPECTATIONS

Parents and guardians play an essential role in maintaining ELITE's positive learning environment.

Parents and guardians are expected to:

  • Support ELITE's mission, values, and instructional methods.

  • Encourage their children to follow instructor directions.

  • Respect instructors, staff, students, and other families.

  • Avoid coaching or interrupting classes from the viewing area.

  • Refrain from correcting, disciplining, confronting, or physically contacting another person's child.

  • Address concerns privately with ELITE management.

  • Supervise accompanying children who are not participating in class.

  • Respect arrival, dismissal, and pickup procedures.

  • Ensure that family members and guests understand and follow applicable facility rules.

Parents and guardians may not interfere with instruction or engage in behavior that compromises student safety or the learning environment.

8. GUEST & SPECTATOR CONDUCT

Guests and spectators must:

  • Maintain a respectful environment.

  • Keep conversations at an appropriate volume.

  • Use headphones when listening to personal media.

  • Take phone calls quietly and away from active instruction when possible.

  • Respect personal space and the privacy of others.

  • Keep viewing areas and shared spaces clean.

  • Avoid entering training areas without authorization.

  • Photograph or record only in accordance with ELITE's privacy and media policies.

Guests may not interfere with classes, instructors, or student activities.

9. COMMUNICATION & CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Concerns should be communicated respectfully and directly to ELITE management.

Members and families are expected to avoid:

  • Public confrontations.

  • Gossip, rumors, or personal attacks.

  • Harassment of instructors, students, staff, or other families.

  • Disruptive disputes during classes or events.

  • Retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.

ELITE welcomes constructive feedback and encourages respectful communication.

10. SOCIAL MEDIA & PUBLIC CONDUCT

Members, parents, and guests are expected to exercise appropriate judgment when discussing ELITE or members of its community online.

The following are prohibited when connected to ELITE activities or relationships:

  • Threats, harassment, or discriminatory statements.

  • Bullying or targeted personal attacks.

  • Unauthorized disclosure of confidential or sensitive information.

  • Posting images or videos in violation of applicable privacy policies.

  • Online conduct that threatens the safety of students, families, or staff.

Nothing in this policy prohibits lawful reporting, protected speech, good-faith complaints, or the exercise of rights protected by applicable law.

11. SOLICITATION & COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY

Unauthorized solicitation, promotion, sales, or commercial activity within ELITE facilities or during ELITE programs is prohibited without management approval.

This includes unauthorized promotion of outside services or businesses to ELITE members.

This provision does not restrict activities protected by applicable law.

12. STUDENT DISCIPLINE & ACCOUNTABILITY

ELITE uses age-appropriate corrective measures to teach accountability, discipline, and responsible behavior.

Tiny ELITE & ELITE Core Kids: ELITE generally follows a three-strike approach for routine behavioral issues, including verbal redirection, additional corrective intervention, and removal from an activity when appropriate.

ELITE Core Teens: Instructors generally begin with verbal redirection, followed by appropriate corrective action when necessary.

Serious safety violations may result in immediate removal without following progressive disciplinary steps.

Corrective action must remain safe, age-appropriate, and consistent with ELITE's instructional standards.

Repeated behavioral issues may affect class participation, eligibility for advancement, or continued enrollment.

13. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

ELITE maintains a Zero Tolerance Policy for serious misconduct that threatens the safety, dignity, or well-being of its community.

This includes:

  • Violence, threats, or physical intimidation.

  • Bullying, harassment, or discrimination.

  • Sexual harassment or inappropriate physical contact.

  • Violations of child-safety boundaries.

  • Intentional endangerment of others.

  • Serious or repeated refusal to follow safety instructions.

  • Retaliation against individuals reporting misconduct.

  • Conduct that materially compromises the safety of students, staff, or families.

Depending on the nature and severity of the conduct, ELITE may take immediate action, including restricting facility access, suspending participation, removing individuals from activities, or terminating membership.

Zero tolerance does not require identical consequences for every incident. ELITE may consider the seriousness of the conduct, immediate safety needs, age, circumstances, and applicable law.

14. ENFORCEMENT & CONSEQUENCES

ELITE reserves the right to take reasonable disciplinary action for violations of this Code of Conduct.

Actions may include:

  • Verbal or written warnings.

  • Parent or guardian conferences.

  • Temporary restrictions on participation.

  • Removal from a class or event.

  • Suspension.

  • Restrictions on guest or spectator access.

  • Membership termination.

Serious misconduct may result in immediate action without prior warning.

Any refunds, fees, or other financial consequences will be determined under the applicable membership agreement and governing law.

ELITE will exercise its disciplinary authority consistently with applicable legal obligations, including nondiscrimination and reasonable-accommodation requirements.

15. REPORTING CONCERNS

Safety concerns, suspected misconduct, or violations of this policy should be reported to ELITE management promptly.

ELITE will review concerns as appropriate and take reasonable steps to address substantiated violations.

Emergencies or immediate threats should be reported to emergency services.

16. ELECTRONIC ACKNOWLEDGMENT

By electronically signing the applicable enrollment or participation agreement, I acknowledge that I have been provided access to this Code of Conduct, have had the opportunity to review it, and agree to comply with its provisions.

If signing as the parent or guardian of a minor Participant, I agree to explain applicable expectations to the Participant and encourage compliance.

I understand that violations may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of participation, subject to applicable agreements and law.

I understand that ELITE may reasonably update its Code of Conduct and will communicate material changes through appropriate channels.
